These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Off Grid Living Tools website at https://offgridlivingtools.com (the “Site”), operated by Off Grid Living Tools (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Educational and reference use only

This Site has been designed for educational and reference purposes only. The calculators, formulas, examples, guides and FAQs are provided to help you understand and plan off-grid water, solar, battery, inverter and electrical systems. They are not a substitute for professional design, engineering, inspection or advice.

2. Use qualified, licensed professionals

We recommend that all do-it-yourself (DIY) work be performed only by licensed and qualified individuals. Electrical, plumbing, gas and structural work can cause serious injury, fire, electric shock, property damage or death if done incorrectly. Always have your design, equipment selection and installation reviewed by a licensed electrician, plumber, engineer or other qualified professional, and obtain any permits and inspections required in your area.

3. Calculator results are estimates

All results are planning estimates based on the inputs you enter and the assumptions stated on each page and on our Calculator Methodology & Limitations page. They are not engineering approvals, wiring approvals, equipment certifications or code-compliance determinations. In particular:

  • Results may not reflect your site conditions, climate, equipment, wiring methods, local rules or actual usage.
  • Some tools use reference tables, such as U.S. National Electrical Code values, that may differ from the requirements in Canada (for example the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA C22.1) or your local jurisdiction. You are responsible for confirming which codes and standards apply to you.
  • You must verify results against manufacturer specifications, applicable codes and the advice of a qualified professional before buying equipment or starting any work.

4. Safety

Batteries, inverters, solar panels and wiring can carry dangerous voltages and currents, including high direct-current (DC) currents capable of causing fires and burns. Water systems involve risks such as contamination and structural loads. Our tools estimate quantities only. They do not assess safety, water quality or drinking-water suitability, and you use any information on the Site at your own risk.

5. No warranties

The Site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Off Grid Living Tools and its owners, operators, contributors and service providers will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, property or use, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site, its calculators or its content, or your reliance on them, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including consumer protection laws that cannot be waived.

7. Affiliate links and third-party sites

The Site may contain affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Our calculator results are not influenced by commissions. Linked websites, products and services are operated by third parties. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, pricing, availability, policies, safety or performance. Your dealings with any third party are solely between you and that party.

8. Purchases: linked and dropshipped products

We do not stock, warehouse or ship products ourselves. Products are either (a) sold by third-party merchants through links on the Site, or (b) if offered directly by us, fulfilled and shipped by third-party suppliers on a dropship basis. In either case:

  • Product descriptions, specifications, pricing, availability, shipping times and warranties come from the merchant or supplier and may change without notice.
  • Product suitability for your system is your responsibility. A calculator result or a product mention is not a recommendation that a product is compatible, safe or code-approved for your installation.
  • Returns, refunds, warranty claims and product-safety issues are handled under the policies of the merchant or supplier, and, for items sold directly by us, under the shipping and return terms shown at checkout.
  • Lithium batteries and other regulated goods may have shipping, import and safety restrictions that apply to you.

9. Intellectual property

The Site, including its text, calculators, formulas, code, layout, graphics and branding, is owned by or licensed to Off Grid Living Tools and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes and may link to it. Without our written permission, you may not copy, republish, sell, scrape, reverse engineer or embed our calculators or content, or present them as your own.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Site, including by attempting to disrupt it, bypass its security, overload it with automated requests, introduce malware, or use it for unlawful purposes.

11. Comments, messages and feedback

If you send us comments, messages or suggestions, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use them to operate and improve the Site. Please do not send confidential or sensitive information.

12. Privacy

Our handling of information is described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Changes to the Site and these Terms

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Site, and update these Terms, at any time. The date at the top shows when the Terms were last updated. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

You agree that the courts located in that province have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site, except where applicable consumer protection law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Calculator Methodology & Limitations page, are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the Site.
