2000W Inverter Runtime Calculator

Estimate battery runtime at your actual appliance load. A 2000W inverter rating describes a power limit; it does not specify how long a battery will last.

2000W Inverter Runtime Calculator

Use Simple Mode for a fast runtime estimate from battery voltage, capacity, and actual load. Switch to Advanced Mode to factor in battery chemistry, depth of discharge, inverter efficiency, and system losses for a much more accurate answer.

Calculate runtime from stored energy

Simple mode uses battery voltage × Ah × 90% usable depth of discharge × 90% inverter efficiency ÷ actual AC load watts. Advanced mode lets you enter depth of discharge, inverter efficiency and an additional delivery loss separately.

For example, 24 V × 200 Ah × 0.90 × 0.90 = 3,888 Wh delivered in Simple mode. At a 1,000 W load, that is 3.888 hours, approximately 3 hours 53 minutes. At 2,000 W, it is approximately 1 hour 57 minutes under the same assumptions.

How to use the tool

  1. Use the battery bank’s actual nominal voltage and total capacity at that voltage.
  2. Enter the running AC wattage of the appliances you intend to operate together.
  3. Use Advanced mode to replace the default efficiencies and usable discharge assumption with values appropriate to your equipment.
  4. Compare the estimated duration with the session you need, then verify equipment ratings separately.

Limits and equipment checks

The model does not include inverter idle draw, solar recharging, battery age, temperature, voltage sag or a discharge curve. The current result is a simplified estimate at the entered nominal voltage. Actual current changes with voltage and load.

Runtime and utilization do not prove an appliance will start or an installation is safe. Check the inverter’s continuous rating, surge power and duration, permitted battery voltage, battery/BMS discharge limits, wiring and protection against the equipment instructions.

Frequently asked questions

Will a bigger inverter increase battery runtime?

The rating alone does not add stored energy. Compare actual efficiency and idle consumption at your load; those can change runtime.

Does halving the load always double runtime?

It does in this constant-efficiency energy model. Real equipment can depart from that relationship because efficiency, idle draw and battery delivery vary.

Does choosing a battery chemistry certify the usable depth?

No. Presets are assumptions. Use the battery manufacturer’s permitted operating limits and adjust the model accordingly.

Can solar provide unlimited runtime?

This calculator does not model concurrent solar input. A sustained system needs generation, storage and loads assessed over changing weather and time.
