Who we are
Off Grid Living Tools (“we”, “us”) publishes free planning calculators and guides at https://offgridlivingtools.com. This policy explains what information the site handles and how. Contact details are at the end of this page.
Our calculators
You do not need an account to use the calculators. The values you enter run in your web browser and are not stored on our servers. Some tools can save your entries in your browser so you can come back to them, or create a share link that contains your entries. A share link only contains information if you choose to copy or send it.
Browser storage
To make the site easier to use, we store small items in your browser (local and session storage). These may include:
- a list of the calculators you recently opened, saved only on your device
- which calculator categories you have expanded during your visit
- your most recent search text on the homepage
- saved calculator settings, where a tool offers this
This information stays in your browser. You can clear it with the “Clear history” button on the homepage or by clearing your browser’s site data.
Hosting, server logs and caching
The site is hosted by Hostinger and uses caching and a content delivery network to serve pages quickly. When you visit, our hosting providers process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
Cookies
We do not use cookies to track visitors. WordPress sets cookies only for logged-in site administrators, and for commenters who choose to save their details if comments are enabled. Third parties such as analytics providers, embedded content or merchants you click through to may set their own cookies, as described below.
Analytics
We may use website analytics to understand which pages and calculators are used and to improve them. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
Affiliate links and disclosure
Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Merchants set their own cookies and apply their own privacy policies once you leave our site. Calculator results are planning estimates, and our recommendations are not influenced by commissions.
Comments, forms and email
If you contact us or submit a comment or form, we receive the details you provide, such as your name, email address and message. If comments are enabled, WordPress also records your IP address and browser details to help detect spam, and comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service. We use this information only to respond to you and to operate the site.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the site (such as hosting, caching, security, spam detection and analytics) and when required by law.
How long we keep information
Server logs are kept by our hosting providers for their standard retention periods. Messages and comments are kept for as long as needed to respond and operate the site, and you can ask us to delete them. Browser storage stays on your device until you clear it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to object to certain uses. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Children
This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Links to other websites
Our pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
